2016 PICC Oathtaking Ceremony of Real Estate Brokers

Lorna Gay Lopez at the 2016 Oathtaking Ceremony of Real Estate Brokers at the PICC on 11 April 2016

After months of agony and doubt (can you tell I'm also an actor with all the dramatic flair?), I was so ecstatic to pass the Real Estate Broker board exam held last 28 February 2016. The oathtaking ceremony, pursuant to R.A. 9646, was open to all the 5,499 brokers who passed.

On April 11, 2016, our Condominions group from the Ateneo class of Urban Institute trooped to the PICC Reception Hall, where we became preoccupied with catching up and selfies galore.

Nevertheless, we made sure to settle down as  Hon. Yolanda D. Reyes, Commissioner of the Professional Regulation Commission, spoke impressively regarding the responsibilities of becoming a certified real estate broker. Hon. Eduardo G. Ong, Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Real Estate Service, was also present for the well-attended occasion.

Afterward, the throng of newly minted real estate brokers lined up for their PRC IDs.

Thanks to my sister for lending me her black barong for the Filipiniana event, and to my fellow Condominion REB TJ Oczon for insisting to take my photo.

Congratulations again to everybody!!! :-D

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) branch at the Philippine Stock Exchange in Ortigas, Pasig City kindly provided me with the list of requirements on how to claim the funds of a depositor who has passed away. Please note that copies of all the listed documents must be submitted to BPI, so, make sure you have xeroxed copies of the originals when you visit the bank.

BDO Requirements for Claim to Account of Deceased Depositor

It is customary for a bank to freeze a depositor's account once the bank officials learn of the depositor's death. This can become a great burden for the family since the funds cannot be withdrawn until certain documentary requirements are met. (And a very good reason to open an ATM account with a co-depositor you trust.) In the event that a Banco de Oro account is frozen due to the death of the depositor, the following are the mandatory documents before the heirs can withdraw from the deceased's BDO account:
